Definition

In Indonesian, explanation text can be interpreted as explanatory text. The description of the explanatory can be interpreted as an explanation or explanation. For this reason, an explanation text is a text to provide a clear explanation.

Usually, an explanation text contains an explanation of social, natural, or cultural phenomena. The purpose of writing this text is to tell the reader about how something works or why something happens.

Structure

Use paragraphs or statements that explain how or why something happened. Write down connections such as cause and effect or temporal sequences.

Language Feature Explanation Text

Explanation text has language features, namely:

- Using the present tense, because the explanation text discusses a fact.

- Using complex noun groups, it aims to build detailed descriptions for example, 'Threatening', 'Rampaging' or 'Enormous' and many more.

- Using abstract nouns such as 'heat', 'earthquakes', 'floods', and others.

- Use sentences with clear subjects and use the verb agreement.

- Using action verbs to explain the cause of the phenomenon under discussion such as 'from' or 'started from'.

Structure of Explanation Text

1. A general statement : Namely the introduction of an event that we will tell. Or a general explanation about event. In the general statement contains a general explanation of phenomenon to be discussed, can be in the form of an introduction to the phenomenon or explanation.

2. Sequenced explanations : That is an explanation of why and how the event occurred. In this section the author can write more than one paragraph. Sequenced explanations contain explanations the process of why these phenomena can occur or are created. Sequenced explanations in the form of answers to the questions why and how the author when making an explanation text. Sequenced explanations can consist of more than one paragraph.

3. Closing / Concluding Statement : That is the conclusion of the story. Actually the closing was not listed in the generic structure of explanation text, but most people assume that the last paragraph of an explanation text is closing, even though it is the part of sequenced explanations that contains the final steps described in sequenced explanations section.

If concluded, explanation text is a type of English text that contains about how or why something happened. Generally, this type of text describes the process of something happening. The things described in the explanatory text are natural and social phenomena.
